We are pleased to be taking part in the Spot Design Market on 1st August as guest makers. We asked organiser Anna Hepburn some more about the market..
Hello Anna, it’s nice to meet you! Can you give us some background to the Spot Design Market please - Why did you start it and where can we find it?
Hey you two, it's nice to meet you too!
Well, first off, I'm a maker as well, so I know what it's like to do an array of varied markets and the efforts that go into trying to make success of a small business. After 8 years living, studying and working in London I made the move to Glasgow and gradually met so many talented people who needed a platform. With my experience in set-design, fashion, fine arts and craft I decided I'd give it a go myself - enter, Spot Design Market. A curated market, providing a styled space to sell over one day. A bit like a lifestyle shop in market format.
Right now, we'll be staying in Glasgow and primarily open to makers based in Scotland, but I really like opening the door to others, so you never know...
What kind of products might we expect to find at the market?
So, think of all the things you'd quite like to have in your contemporary home or for your design conscious self... and chances are we'll have it at some point and even things you never knew you wanted! As we curate, we choose a really balanced selection to make sure we offer everybody a fair chance of showing off their work to our visitors.
With the success of the Spring Edit Online and now Summer moving online too due to the current situation, how can we tune in to browse the products?
Saturday 1st August 10am - 10pm at www.thespotdesignmarket.co.uk where makers will be offering a selection of their top sellers. This edit is pretty exciting as we're opening the floor to limited editions for the first time made especially for Spot. We'll also have music from our resident DJ and will have a selection of live interactions with our makers throughout the day on our Instagram.
